I personally was thrilled by how I was treated by the Jackals off the ice and by the fact that I was not given any special treatment on the ice. I did amazingly well in the high intensity practice Friday night and the 2 intersquad scrimmages on Saturday and the final game on Sunday.
I talked to a lot a people at the rink, many of who came there just to see and speak to me. I was even approached in public a few times.
It all brought a lot of attention to organ and tissue donation awareness and to Cystic Fibrosis for which I am thrilled.
This is the ABC story which ran last night http://weny.com/Sports_Jackals.asp?ARTICLE3362=9161418
NBC ran a story Monday night: http://www.wetmtv.com/sports/story/Trevor-Umlah-A-Story-of-Hope-Perseverance/zov39q8udkiOYQxe0p-xaQ.cspx
My friend Blair captured also captured video of my first few saves which is featured at www.lifepassiton.ca
I also had coverage locally in the Chronicle Herald and with CBC Nova Scotia which were featured previously on my blog.
I am happy to speak to more media and charities in the future about my experience and about CF and organ and tissue donation. I have a few things taking shape now, so stay tuned.
